Q1. Direction:There are five shoe companies: Puma, Nike, Adidas, Reebok and Bata. In the following line graphs, the first line graph shows the marked up price with respect to the cost price of the shoes and the second line graph shows the discount percentage given on the marked up price with the help of the given information answer the following questions.

If the cost price of Reebok is increased by 10% and other percentages (marked price /discount) remain same, then how much more percent loss company will get as compared to previous loss?
Answer : Option D
Explaination / Solution:

Let the previous C.P of Reebok shoe be INR 100
Marked up price of Reebok is 180% with respect to C.P. of Reebok shoe
⇒M.P = 180% of 100
⇒M.P. = INR 180
Discount given is 60% on the marked price
As we know, Selling price = M.P. – discount
⇒S.P. = 180 – 60% of 180
⇒S.P. = 180 – 108
⇒S.P. of Reebok shoe = INR 72
∴Loss = 100 – 72 = INR 28
Now, loss percentage = 28/100 × 100 = 28%
According to the given information:
If C.P. of Reebok shoe increase by 10%
Then, New C.P. = INR 110
Marked up price of Reebok is 180% with respect to C.P. of Reebok shoe
⇒M.P = 180% of 110
⇒New M.P. = INR 198
Discount given is 60% on the marked price
As we know, Selling price = M.P. – discount
⇒S.P. = 198 – 60% of 198
⇒ S.P. = 198 – 118.8
⇒ New S.P. of Reebok shoe = INR 79.2
∴ Loss = 110 – 79.2 = INR 30.8
Now, loss percentage = 30.8/110 × 100 = 28%
Thus, there is no increase in loss.

Q3. Direction: What will come in place of the question mark (?) in the following number series?
14    43.5    264    ?    76118
Answer : Option E
Explaination / Solution:

14*3 + 1.5 = 43.5
43.5*6 + 3 = 264
264*12 + 6 = 3174
3174*24 + 12 = 76188

Q4. It is being given that (232 + 1) is completely divisible by a whole number. Which of the following numbers is completely divisible by this number?
Answer : Option D
Explaination / Solution:

Let 232 = x. Then, (232 + 1) = (x + 1).

Let (x + 1) be completely divisible by the natural number N. Then,

(296 + 1) = [(232)3 + 1] = (x3 + 1) = (x + 1)(x2 - x + 1), which is completely divisible by N, since (x + 1) is divisible by N.

Q9. Two students appeared at an examination. One of them secured 9 marks more than the other and his marks was 56% of the sum of their marks. The marks obtained by them are:
Answer : Option C
Explaination / Solution:

Let their marks be (x + 9) and x.

Then, x + 9 =56(x + 9 + x)
100

 25(x + 9) = 14(2x + 9)

 3x = 99

 x = 33

So, their marks are 42 and 33.
